Blue Claw24x30, Acrylic on Stretched Canvas with Image Wrap Border |
||||
My girls love to eat boiled crabs. On a cold February, Saturday afternoon, in 2009, Molly and I found some fat female blue crabs at a local seafood market. After buying all the necessary fixings for the boil including: onions, potatoes, crab boil, cayenne pepper, lemon juice, Louisiana hot sauce and salt, we drove home for the feast. Before painting, in earnest, the coloration of the crabs caught my attention and always accompanied fond memories of crab boils as a child. However, it wasn’t until I closely examined the crab claws that I realized the absolute wild colors contained on a single blue crab claw. The painting is obviously of a close-up of the claw, before boiling. The colors shown in the painting were largely realistic, believe-it-or-not. Once again, our Divine creator used His brush masterfully when the blue crab was created. |
