During one of the most tumultuous periods of the artists’ life, when consumed with the conflict over whether or not to continue law school at Louisiana State University, this work was created. Midway through his studies, the foreboding question posed itself: “Do I want to practice law?” Summoning the power and energy of this soul-searching, the artist plunged into this piece passionately to create this concrete representation of that which was conflicting him. While most see the school building modeled after the United States Supreme Court, the artist saw a choice between life paths. |
