Ring Neck30x40 Acrylic on Stretched Canvas with Black Gallery Wrap Border This painting makes the perfect mate for “Greater Scaup”. |
||||
Known in South Louisiana as the “dogris” or
“ring neck”, the Scaup duck is a beautiful example of the simplicity of two drastic color combinations - black and
yellow. Both colors are exactly opposite each other on the artist’s color wheel. Actually decorators usually use
contrasting colors to create a splash. Certainly God’s design, with the deep black heads of the Scaup duck in contrast
with the piercing yellow eye of the Scaup, teaches us a valuable lesson: sometimes opposites do go well together. Some may
react to this painting somewhat fearfully because of the stare that appears menacing. The painting is one of the
artist’s favorites, despite the somewhat uneasy stare. |
