Fall Strut24x30 Acrylic on Stretched Canvas with Black Gallery Wrap Border |
||||
With the five girls off for the Thanksgiving break,
and a little
“spare” time due to the holiday, the younger three daughters requested that Dad paint a turkey. Inspired by the
fall foliage of the woods behind the house and a recent hunt/retreat to a convent in Steubenville, Ohio (during the changing
of the leaves) where turkeys abound, this muted yet bold turkey strutted itself through the fall brush and onto this canvas.
Of particular interest to the artist in this painting is the deep black hues of the turkey and how light plays off the ruffled
feathers as well as the burnt orange color of the wing feathers. Only God could create such magnificent masterpieces! We can
only try to capture these elusive creatures in paint to be able to appreciate the natural beauty of God’s palette.
